The Noordkaper is designed as a comfortable cruising yacht with good
sailing performance, with a high standard of quality throughout.
She has attractive classic lines, with a beautifully formed
sheer. Standing on deck you
feel safe due to the 90 centimetres (3ft) high stainless steel railing.
An increasing number of sailing enthusiasts now want to stay on
board for longer, and that is why there is a growing demand for
deckhouse yachts. Standing
in the deckhouse you have a clear view all around.
Particularly in bad weather, the deckhouse provides you with good
shelter whilst on watch.
There are two alternative styles for the deckhouse:
a classic deckhouse or a sturdy cutter deckhouse. Both styles of
deckhouse are fitted with insulated security glass together with
insulated frames to prevent condensation.
Because of the lift keel construction, which is operated from the
cockpit, the draft is minimised.
Cruising areas can extend to inland lakes and rivers.
Even when the keel is lifted, the sailing qualities remain good
as the length of the keel stretches out along the baseline of the yacht
enabling you to maintain a steady course.

All the yacht
components are of good quality with a high standard of workmanship.
It doesn’t matter whether you look at the hull, the
paintwork, the technical installation or the joinery - everything
adds up to quality standards.
Sailing performance
The sailing
qualities of the Noordkaper are surprisingly good for a steel yacht
of considerable weight.
Some would say that the yacht looks like a motor sailer, but in
reality you can regard this as a sailing yacht with a deckhouse.
The sail area is considerable, so even with little wind she
is a pleasure to sail.
The Noordkaper has a cutter rig, with the roller reefing jib
attached to a short bowsprit. The mainsail halyard is led to the cockpit. The cutter
foresail is self-tacking which makes for ease of handling.

Interior
Every Noordkaper is custom built.
Two yachts may be sisters, but never twins. The interior is
designed in consultation with the purchaser. The joinery is usually in
teak and of high quality workmanship. Two levels of living space are
created forward of the deckhouse, thus the widest part of yacht is
effectively used twice. This explains why the interior is so spacious in
relation to the length of the yacht.
Manoeuvring
The Noordkaper is usually equipped with a Yanmar diesel engine, fitted
with a thrust bearing. The rudder rests on a heel.
The Noordkaper has a tight turning circle, little more than the
yacht’s length. The
bowthruster, which is normally installed, also helps in turning the
yacht. Despite the long keel there is no problem manoeuvring in reverse.
